Notes for William Philip STONE
Born on the “Jeffery Ranch” near Marland (Bliss) Oklahoma. Betty and Bill lived in Illinois for sometime while Bill worked for an oil company. Bill joined the Army Air Force in World War II and was stationed in Arizona. After he was discharged, they bought a tract of ground in the Tanque Verde area of Tucson, Arizona and built their own home. Employed by civil service in Institutional Correction System.He died there on 17 Oct 1963 and was buried from the St. Philips Episcopal Church in the Hills to the South Lawn Cemetery. Betty continued to live in the home in Tucson they had built together. Bill was 6 ft 6 inches tall.1

He died of cancer--the same kind that killed Dr. Tom Dooley.
