Paul and Minnie, George and Mabel drove to Enid Oklahoma on a Saturday or Sunday. Went to the house of the clerk (city or county) to get a marriage license. Then they went to the house of the President of Phillips University who married them.
In 1951 they bought the oil lease house and had it moved to Chase, Kansas. The house, with all the possessions, was jacked up for a truck to back under the next day. During the night the wind came up and the house began to rock. They went outside and watched the house sway--it never fell however.
In about 1949 Doris remembers the sky being green. She went into the house and later saw the storm coming with an oil rig toppling. Her dad put the family into the dining room and put a mattress over them. Paul Sr stayed out and watched. The house was slightly damaged.50
