The minutes of the court of rockingham County, Virginia show that there was a deed from Caroline Miller to Henry O’Kane in the year 1817, but the record was destroyed in the Civil War. A deed recorded in Book 8-page 531 in rockingham County, Virginia, shows on 22-October-1828, a Sarah O’Kane, Thomas Cottrell and Rebekah Cottrell, fomerly Rebekah O’Kane, his wife, John O’Kane, Henry O’Kane and Barbara his wife, Elizabeth Ann O’Kane and Thomas O’Kane and his wife Ann gave deed for 10 acres on Smith Creek to Patrick McManus. This would indicate that Henry O’Kane was dead by 1828.
