Never married. Military record # Pension 331-836. John H. Bentley was enrolled as Private in Co. A- 5th Reg. Ohio Caly in Cincinnati, Ohio on 18 Feb 1865. Mustered out 30-Oct-1865 at Charlotte, North Carolina. Died 4-Dec-1873 in Leesburg, Highland Co. Ohio from lung disease casued by exposure during the Rebellion. His mother, Margaret Bentley received a pension from his disability.
