“b. abt 1586; d prob. at Carr House, Bretherton, Lancs., bet march 30, 1646 (date of will) and October 1, 1646 (date of probate); m (banns) (1) Amsterdam, may 21, 1616 Catalijre Ewouts (Anglicised as Katherine Eudood); m. (2) prob. London, bet. 1634 and 1640 to Mary Ashurst, dtr. of Henry Ashurst of Ashurst, Lancs., and Cassandra Bradshw, of Wayham Lincolnshire. (After she was widowed, Mary married Theophilus Howorth, a Manchester physician). The report in the Croson Parish Register of burial of Andrew Stons on December 6, 1647, obviously must refer to one of the others of that name who lived in the parish. Children: 1. Thomas, prob. b. Amsterdam abt 1617; bur. St. lawrence Jewry, London, march 11, 1634/5; 2. matthew, prob. b. London abt. 1619; living in 1634. neither son is mentioned in their father’s will nor in numerous documents disposing of protions of Andrew’s land between 1639 and 1646, which suggests that Matthew d. bet. 1634 and 1639, prob. in London.”
