Notes for Lila Jean MILLER
rH factor problem. Also bad heart. Listless. When she died her Dad bought a whole block of plots in the Chase Kansas Cemetery.
Doris was home from school. They were living on an oil lease near Silica, Kansas. Minnie was vacuuming the living room when her water broke. The phone was out. Minnie sent Doris to the neighbor’s house about a mile away. Doris didn’t know what was happening so she ran scared thinking her mom was dying. Somehow they got ahold of Paul Sr. Later they talked about the pickup becoming airborne as they sped over the railroad tracks. She was born that evening. Doris says she picked out her name--has no idea why her parents let her pick out her sister’s name.
