W. A. Potter Dies: A Lifelong Resident
W. A. "Curley" Potter, 72, a lifelong resident of Boonville died at St. Joseph's hospital at 4:45 a.m. today following a brief illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the B. W. Thacher Funeral Home.
Mr. Potter was born in Boonville, Aug. 11, 1888, the son of John and Louise Back Potter. He was married to Anna Schuster on Nov. 17, 1917 at SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Boonville. Mrs. Potter preceded him in death on June 5, 1958. He is survived by one son, W. J. "Skeetz" Potter of the home; three grandchildren; two brothers, George Potter of Lordsburg, N. M., and Edward Potter of St. Louis, Mo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise McCartney and Mrs. Bessie Bennett, both of Springfield, Mo. He also leaves a half-brother, Joseph Stillwell of Marshall, Mo. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Potter was a lifelong member of SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and, while at present not active, had been a charter member of the Boonville Lions Club. Mr. Potter for many years operated Curley's Flower Shop and prior to that had been engaged in the transfer business. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the B. W. Thacher Funeral Home this evening and until time for services.
