Graduated from Tonkawas High School and University Preparatory College at Tonkawa. Played Football. Belonged to the National Guard. Worked as a welder and machinist in his father’s shop and in California and Texas. Moved to Ulysses, Kansas and to Hutchinson, Kansas, where he worked until he retired for Packaging Corporation of America. He was at various times, President of his Union and President of PTA. Moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1970.

After his death Helen Nadine Stone revealed that he had been married three times. I have no information about the first two marriages. Its my understanding there were no children from the first two marriages. The second marriage was quite short.

Burrton & Helen were married in the Christian Church study. Witnesses were J. W. Marshall and Evelyn Hayden Marshall who were married at the same time and location.

“Burrton Glenn Woodruff II. Burrton Glenn Woodruff, resident of Tahlequah, died Friday, August 28, 1992 at a Tahlequah hospital. He was 85.
Born June 25, 1907 at Gracemont in Caddo County, Indian Territory, he was the son of Burrton Glenn and Emma Bell (Bentley) Woodruff, pioneers of Oklahoma.
He and Helen Nadine Stone were married Sept. 17, 1939 at Anthony, Kan. Woodruff retired in 1969 from the Packaging Corporation of America in Hutchinson.
Surviving are his wife of the home; four sons, Burrton Glenn Woodruff III, Professor of Psychology, Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind.; Layten Lamar Woodruff, Manufacturing Engineer, Hevi-Duty/Nelson in Tulsa; Rodger Allyn Woodruff, Store Manager, Broadway Department Stores in Denver, Colo., and Virgil Joe Woodruff, Director, MIS, Grodyne Resources, Sand Springs; also a brother, Theodore Woodruff of Sacramento, Calif., and nine grandchildren.
Graveside service for Woodruff will be held Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tonkawa, under direction of McCafferty-Bolick Funeral Home.
There will be visitation Monday at McCafferty-Bolick Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
